Our most recent publication is a feature in The Times newspaper, in the Bricks & Mortar section. The article describes our struggle to thermally improve our own house in a conservation area in Islington. The planners would have granted planning permission if we had been prepared to downgrade the spec of the proposed double glazing. We were not prepared to do that because it would have very much reduced the energy savings, and increased the cost, for no tangible benefit. We have taken the refused application to appeal and the case will be decided by the planning inspectorate shortly. We hope to set a precedent so more people can improve the energy efficiency of their houses and flats in conservation areas. Even if we lose the appeal we will have achieved clarity on what is allowed in conservation areas in non-Listed buildings. Here is a photo of the article:
